Railroad Technology Corporation, ("RTC") is the nation's leading value-added freight car remarketing organization. Founded in 1987 and based in San Francisco, RTC serves the railroad freight car needs of Class I railroads, shippers, financial institutions and capital equipment lessors.
Since it's founding, RTC has completed hundreds of freight car lease originations and dispositions totaling more than $1,000,000,000 ($ One Billion) in original equipment cost. Railroad Technology Corporation's strong suit is freight car remarketing through both net and operating lease originations, freight car engineering and freight car remanufacturing. RTC has successfully remanufactured and leased thousands of otherwise obsolete freight cars, including multi-level auto racks, flat cars, covered hopper cars, high cube gondola cars, Grade "A" paper service box cars, intermodal TOFC (trailer on flat car) spine cars and coal service gondola cars. Remanufactured freight cars are typically produced for between 50-60% of the cost of comparable new cars - the key to creating value in freight car leasing.
Railroad Technology Corporation sources equity and debt from financial institutions to invest in both newly remanufactured and 10-25 year old freight cars. RTC performs all aspects of asset management from car sourcing and acquisition, lease origination, engineering, remanufacturing, car accounting, maintenance and disposition. The revenue model also includes private freight car ownership, operating lease management, freight car sales and Internet.
FreightCar.com - the marketing power of Internet has revolutionized traditional business models in virtually every segment of industry and Railroad Technology Corporation is the Internet pioneer in freight car sales and leasing. FreightCar.com was founded in 1999 as a railroad industry Web site for freight car lease dispositions, and has since registered more than 2,000 qualified railroad industry decision makers along with more than 80,000 unique visitors. The FreightCar.com database provides strategic partners with the ability to reach a broad market of transportation industry decision makers for all types of capital equipment and lease finance products on both a domestic and international basis.
