Railroad Technology Corporation
Freight Car Engineering & New Car manufacturing
Railroad Technology Corporation brings four decades of railroad industry expertise to all aspects of new car engineering from car design, prototype and stress testing to contract manufacturing and AAR New Car Certification. The new car portfolio includes 12 axle depressed deck specialty cars @ $1.5 million each (new car cost basis) and general purpose 89-foot flat cars @ $135K each. Railroad Technology Corporation has been there and done that across virtually all car types and many times over.
Fleet Engineering & Remanufacturing
For extending service life, the engineering team works from the ground up to evaluate structural integrity, coupler systems, truck assemblies, and brake rigging. Remanufacturing may include center sill repair or replacement, cross-bearer reinforcement, deck renewal, and Grade E coupler upgrades. Each car exits the program with a documented inspection history and a regulatory-compliant certification package.
Applications & Industries
Flat cars manufactured new, refurbished or rebuilt serve the power generation and intermodal industries. Non-compliant multi-level auto racks scheduled for de-racking are Rule 88 rebuilt for new cost basis. In house commodity car expertise includes remanufacturing of covered hoppers for both grain and plastic pellet service, boxcars for forest products, gondolas for both construction debris and maintenance of way.
Sale lease Backs & Lease Dispositions
For private car owners, we monetize off-lease or otherwise obsolete rail assets. Railroad Technology Corporation will purchase your rail assets for lease back or originate a new lease for your portfolio following the remanufacture of the asset. The planning and execution of structured lease transactions with Class I and Regional railroads, shippers and lessors is our strong suit.
